Join

Are you interested in joining the Twitrhet community? It’s fairly simple:

  1. Sign Up and Join Up

If you don’t have a Twitter account, sign up for one. It’s free.

Then, join the Twitrhet Group hosted at Twitter Groups. All members are listed on that page, making it easy to find, follow, and get to know more people in the field. (Twitter Groups is free, too.)

  2. Tweet and Tag #twitrhet

When you Tweet something of interest, whether it be about your research, teaching, conference attendance, or just rhetoric and writing in general, be sure to include our hashtag, #twitrhet, somewhere in your Tweet so that it appears on this site and elsewhere.

Twitrhet.org collects the 50 most recent posts with the #twitrhet hashtag, and calculates the Active Twitrhetors based only on the 50 most recent. So stay active!

  3. Consolidate

If you are a Facebook user, there are Facebook apps to help you consolidate your Tweets and your Facebook statuses that will:

With these apps, you can still post to FB or Twitter directly. It doesn’t matter how you post; only the #twitrhet hashtag matters.

Help

Are your Tweets not appearing on twitrhet.org? Here’s how to troubleshoot:

  1. Check Your Hashtags and Wait

Individual Tweets will only appear here if they have the #twitrhet hashtag.

Also, it can take a few minutes for your Tweets to appear on this site, depending on the app you used and this site’s cache (which refreshes every few minutes).

  2. Make Sure You’ve Gone Public

If your Tweets are restricted, your #twitrhet-tagged Tweets will never appear on this site. Open up and go public!

Go to your Twitter Account Settings and make sure there’s no checkmark next to “Protect my updates.”

  3. Panic. Scream. Break Things.

And then when you’ve calmed down, hit Karl Stolley up on Twitter @karlstolley or via email at karl.stolley@gmail.com if all else fails.
